Street Style Planning

With London Fashion Week looming thoughts turn to outfit planning. I go to the event because I love taking street style pics, I've found it's the best kind of consumer research out there. I was luckily eased in to this type of photography gently whilst at 'The Benches' in the Somerset house courtyard with Pearl Westwood.
So here is an inspirational collage to get our street style brains ticking.

One of the amazing tutors that I was lucky enough to be taught by Alan Holmes (now director of studies and design) having a chat with Textile Design for Fashion graduate Lucy Jones. Blog post on Lucy and her beautiful work coming up.

I took MILLIONS of pictures at the Manchester School of Art degree show. The building has just had a massive refurb which compliments the students spectacular work magnificently.
I think it's best to split the pics up into a few chunks. Above is a mix of work from courses Textiles Design for Fashion and Embroidery. This is an emotional area for me as I studied Textile Design for Fashion whilst I was at Man Met and these two courses are being merged into one big course called 'Textiles in Practice'.

So my lovely course is no more!
I feel very privileged to have had a helping hand with these final year students as it marks the end of a wonderful era.
Since last October I was brought into the uni to do tutorial sessions and help out with their digitalprint/photoshop skills. I had a fab time being back at MMU and love working in this amazing new building 'Chatham Tower'. Can't wait to start the journey all over again with the next lot of students. Bring on September!

I love finding inspiration in editorials. This one from US Vogue has been hanging around my laptop for at least a year. Perfect for the range I'm designing that the moment.
